Según la crítica (y lo que reza en la portada de este ejemplar) «Tierra de hombres» es la mejor obra de Antoine. El Principito es uno de mis libros favoritos y en mi opinión, difícilmente superable, por lo que o esa me parecía una afirmación muy ambiciosa y no podía imaginar cómo era el libro para que alguien se tomara el atrevimiento de escribir algo como eso, pensé que o podía encontrar una obra absolutamente genial o una gran decepción. Quizá por eso me resistí tanto a leerlo.
El inminente y expectante resultado fue… que colmó mis expectativas como no imaginaba que podía llegar a hacerlo.
Al principio creí que me encontraría con una novela, algo extraído de su destacada imaginación, pero, en vez de eso, me adentré en las memorias de Antoine, en una especie de diario poético, en el que registraba sus reflexiones, sus experiencias en el cielo, en la tierra, con los aviones y sus compañeros.
Este autor tiene una capacidad y una sensibilidad para arrancarle el alma a las palabras, al día a día, a lo cotidiano. Mientras leía, tenía la sensación de ver el mundo de aquel tiempo a través de los penetrantes ojos de Antoine era toda una experiencia.
Describe la sensación de estar en el avión sobrevolando el cielo con tal detalle que casi podía sentir esa brisa de la que el habla en mis tostro, contemplando la puesta de sol, el enigmático y hermoso desierto del que Antoine desentrañaba sus secretos más profundos.
Este libro fue escribo aproximadamente 5 años antes que «El Principito», pero es inevitable detectar a este personaje, asomándose tímidamente entre las letras de Antoine, la esencia de éste empezaba a brotar a través de estas páginas.
Antoine escribe aquí sobre los temas mas diversos: la amistad, el compañerismo, el honor, la solidaridad, el sentido de la vida, el vuelo, el desierto, al vida, su propia filosofía tan profunda que te descoloca y te empuja sutilmente a cuestionarte tantas cosas ya mirar a tu alrededor, a no volver a ver lo aparentemente simple del mismo modo… y todo con tal elocuencia y belleza, que inevitablemente fue haciéndose lugar en mis lista de libros favoritos, es de esos títulos que no quería que terminara, y que, al alcanzar la última página, sentí como si hubiera perdido un amigo (hay un escritor que dice que esa sensación es la que te hace identificar los buenos libros).
