Sinopsis del libro

Brianda Gonzaga, una editora de éxito que ronda los cuarenta, rompe de manera forzosa con su realidad cuando la despiden sin demasiadas contemplaciones. Sumida en una espiral de desasosiego, busca consuelo en quienes nunca le han fallado, los libros, y siguiente una suerte de pálpito, se embarca en un  viaje que la llevará a un lugar perdido entre las montañas que la cambiará para siempre: el concejo de Nuba.

Y entonces sucedió algo maravilloso. El anuncio de una vieja librería en traspaso en la que buscar un tesoro, una tormenta, los brazos de un enigmático amante y el fantasma de un niño desaparecido unos años atrás arrastrarán a Brianda a una historia apasionante en la que empezar a ser la protagonista de su propia vida, sin renunciar a nada de lo que es importante: la amistad, el amor, la alegría, el conocimiento, y, si…, también un poco de sexo.

Estoy muy feliz de compartir la última reseña de este año tan turbulento, y quiero creer que escogí una buena e inspiradora historia para esta ocasión.

En “Y entonces sucedió algo maravilloso” nuestra protagonista es Brianda, una mujer que ha consagrado su vida a su trabajo como editora de libros, sin darse la oportunidad de construir otra vida de ningún tipo, sin familia, sin un círculo de amistades y olvidándose por completo de sí misma.

Pero un día, la vida como la conocía hasta ese momento se desmorona, pierde su trabajo y como era lo único a lo que entregaba su energía, siente que todo deja de tener sentido. Y entonces decide jugar un viejo juego con quienes nunca le han fallado, ni la han lastimado y la han acompañado siempre: los libros.

Así, emprende un viaje a un lugar desconocido, sin esperar nada más que intentar encontrarse a sí misma… De este modo, llega a un pequeño y apacible pueblito llamado Nuba, en el que encuentra una librería llamada Locus Docendi, cuyo propietario, el señor Lorenzo, está buscando a una persona digna a quien traspasar la librería, un santuario de conocimiento tan preciado para él que quiere asegurarse de que quede en buenas manos. Piensa que Brianda puede ser una buena candidata, por el amor que siente por los libros y por todo el significado que tienen en su vida. Aunque para ser merecedora de un sitio tan valioso, antes tiene que encontrar un tesoro escondido (o no tanto) ahí, en la librería… Es el lugar perfecto, pues para ella el chocolate de la existencia son los libros, la golosina sin la cual no sabe vivir.

Brianda se instala en el lugar y conoce a un hombre que sacude su vida de una manera violenta y al mismo tiempo seductora, que despierta toda su sensibilidad, a quien no se puede resistir.

Así se va entretejiendo la historia en la que un evento inesperado irrumpe en la vida de Brianda, enseñándole que aunque la vida no siempre pasan las cosas que queremos, lo inesperado puede llegar a ser incluso mejor.

Brianda está convencida de que hay que buscar el conocimiento, pues toda nuestra dignidad reside en el pensamiento y es por eso que hay que procurar pensar, y pensar bien. Así que está decidida a convertir su vida en una obra de arte, por lo que va descubriendo y analizando los elementos que necesita para conseguirlo, de una manera bonita y sensible.

Me encantan las referencias literarias que hay a lo largo de la historia y esa manera tan elocuente, hermosa y emocionante que tiene de expresarse de los libros, de las palabras y de cómo estas no solo hacen el mundo, sino que también pueden salvarlo.

Pienso que es una novela que los amantes de los libros realmente disfrutarán, y no podrán evitar asentir y sonreír ante el afecto con el que la autora escribe sobre los libros.

De entre mis lecturas recientes quise compartir esta para cerrar el año porque me gusta mucho esa dosis de esperanza que despide la historia, de cómo a veces llegamos a un punto en el que la vida parece derrumbarse, o cambia, o perdemos algo o alguien valioso para nosotros, y como este año ha sido particularmente difícil para casi todos nosotros y nos ha puesto a prueba en muchos aspectos, pienso que siempre viene bien algo que nos inspire y nos inyecte un poco de confianza ante un futuro impredecible pero del que sin duda saldremos más fuertes y con más herramientas para hacer frente a lo que venga. Y por supuesto, de todo lo incierto estoy convencida de que viviremos experiencias que enriquecerán nuestra vida, para enseñarnos que nada es tan terrible.

No recuerdo qué escritor dice que las experiencias por sí mismas no enseñan nada, porque de ser así el mundo estaría lleno de sabios. Yo coincido con él, no son las circunstancias las que determinarán nuestra vida, sino lo que nosotros elijamos hacer con ellas y la enseñanza con la que decidamos quedarnos.

Me siento muy agradecida contigo que me lees y me acompañas a escudriñar lo que hay entre las historias que esconden las tapas de los libros, cuyas letras desentrañamos con expectativas y casi nunca salimos siendo los mismos que entraron a ellas. Gracias a quienes han tenido la confianza de acercarse a mí para ayudarles a encontrar su próxima lectura, porque es una de las cosas que más me apasionan en la vida y que me hacen feliz 🙂
