En un par de días se conmemora el Día de la mujer y por supuesto que no yo iba a dejar de compartir una reseña de un libro que hiciera honor a ellas. Ya es tradición de Bookworm 📚
Esta vez es el turno de “Las niñas van donde quieren”, en la que los autores cuentan la vida de mujeres aventureras, que subieron montañas, surcaron mares, nadaron por lugares improbables, fueron al espacio, estaban en primera fila en las guerras y sucesos históricos para informar al mundo la verdad e incluso subían a los volcanes en plena erupción. Estas chicas no se andaban con cosas. Aunque me indigné mucho al reconocer que yo nunca antes había escuchado de ellas. Ninguna. Y digo me indigna porque muchas fueron un parte aguas, marcaron un antes y un después, fueron fuente de inspiración para generaciones siguientes de mujeres e hicieron aportes importantes a la ciencia, al cine, a la antropología, al periodismo y muchísimo más sin los cuales no comprenderíamos el mundo como lo podemos hacer ahora… Y están tan escondidas en la historia 🙁
Aunque la mayoría de estas 25 mujeres son muy diferentes entre sí, originarias de lugares distintos, con intereses diversos y épocas muy separadas unas de otras, todas tienen en común que estaban movidas por la curiosidad y la pasión por lo que hacían, por lo que querían saber y los sitios que querían conocer, que desafiaron el paradigma de las mujeres no pueden ser y/o hacer ciertas cosas. Que no pueden viajar solas. Que necesitan de un hombre para conseguir algo. Y aunque la sociedad cuestionaban sus capacidades ellas se aferraron a sus objetivos y con mucho esfuerzo, inteligencia y determinación conquistaron hasta los lugares más inhóspitos.
Leer esta trilogía me ha hecho muy feliz. Me sentí inspirada, conmovida, fuerte y poderosa también cuando la leí. También un poquis triste porque estas mujeres no han tenido el reconocimiento que merecen y por todos los altibajos que tuvieron que sortear por el simple hecho de ser mujeres. Pero te dejan la sensación de que tú también puedes. De que tú también eres capaz. Es fácil identificarse con muchas de ellas.
Aunque es un libro destinado al público infantil-juvenil, yo a mis 27 años aprendí muchas cosas y lo terminé sintiéndome empoderada y capaz de hacer cualquier cosa que me proponga, igual que ellas. Puro GirlPower 💪
Me parece maravilloso que existan libros como este, que saquen a estas chicas de las sombras y las lleven a la luz y a los ojos de muchos lectores, justo donde se merecen estar. Y, además, especial para niños, en un lenguaje sencillo y una redacción muy bien estructurada que te hace sentir que estás viviendo una aventura junto con estas mujeres.
