Sinopsis del libro

He aquí el nacimiento del propósito del detective, modelo de razonamiento deductivo: Sherlock Holmes. Pocos personajes en la historia de la literatura se han afianzado tanto en el imaginario colectivo, generando lazos afectivos con sus lectores que hoy se expresan en clubes de admiradores festivales y museos alrededor del mundo. La escritura de la novela policiaca que, tras los pasos de otros grandes de la literatura como Edgar Allan Poe, siguió Arthur Conan Doyle , se resume así: se expone un hecho delictivo, preferentemente un asesino, que en un principio resultara indescifrable y complejo . El detective, mediante la observación y deducción, logra desentrañar el misterio hacia el final del relato, revelando la identidad del criminal. De lo anterior se desprende que, en una novela como Estudio en escarlata, sea crucial la atención a los detalles y la descripción precisa de los objetos y personajes que figuran en la historia.

Este es el  libro con el que mundo conoció a Sherlock Holmes, el detective más famoso de todos, absolutamente genial y que definitivamente le hace justicia a la fama que se ha ganado (y que ahora comprendo porque es un nombre que se conoce en casi todo el mundo).

Debo confesar que no entiendo porqué hasta ahorita me di la oportunidad de leer este libro si yo disfruto tanto éste género, el policiaco, el misterio, pero ahora, una vez más, aprendí que nunca es demasiado tarde para conocer o aprender de algo J ¡Porque me ha encantado! ♥

Éste enigmático y fascinante libro está ambientado en 1878 (así que ya se pueden imaginar los increíbles detalles del contexto)  y narrado en primera persona por John Watson (todos los libros de Sherlock Holmes son como una especie de memorias de él) un médico militar retirado que está en busca de un sitio para vivir tranquilamente y con quién pueda compartir los gastos de una renta, y un amigo, Stamford, al que encuentra casualmente en un bar le comenta que casualmente conoce a alguien que está buscando lo mismo que él, por lo que lo conduce al laboratorio de un hospital lleno de probetas y químicos burbujeantes en el que le presenta a un hombre excéntrico (no como cualquier otro, como le advierte Stamford) que parece saberlo todo sobre el Doctor Watson sin necesidad de preguntarle nada.

Si, claro. Se trata del mismísimo Sherlock Holmes.

Y tras un breve interrogatorio y confesiones chistosas de nuestro detective, se convierten así en compañeros de piso, que comparten en Baker Street 221B.

El doctor Watson tiene a bien de contarnos algunos detalles de la misteriosa personalidad de nuestro detective, sus habilidades, conocimientos, y esos aspectos casi obvios en las que Sherlock se reconoce ignorante. Por ejemplo, no sabía que ya se había descubierto que la tierra giraba alrededor del sol y no al revés. Aunque Sherlock tiene una teoría muy interesante en la que sostiene que no debemos almacenar información en nuestra cabeza que no sirve, sino solo lo absolutamente necesario para volvernos verdaderos expertos en lo que realmente nos interese.

Pero esta nueva etapa de su vida no es nada de lo que Watson esperaba…

Porque resulta ser que Sherlock Holmes es el detective asesor privado más solicitado de Scatland Yard, a quién acuden otros detectives ya establecidos en su área, que necesitan que Sherlock Holmes ilumine con un poco de su luz en su oscuridad inminente, por lo que en su domicilio tienen visitas constantes de estas personas muy distintas entre sí que buscan asesoramiento.

Todo marcha relativamente normal hasta que llega un caso que representaría su primera gran aventura juntos, en la que se llevó a cabo un misterioso asesinato en el que no hay mayores pistas que un cuerpo sin sangre con una expresión de terror en el rostro y una leyenda escrita con sangre sobre una de las paredes de la casa que reza RACHE, y aunque las sospechas apuntan a la persona que acompañaba al muerto, identificado como , aparece muerto al poco tiempo después con la misma leyenda de sangre en el lugar del homicidio.

Sherlock Holmes, claro está, siempre está dos pasos adelante, y la forma en la que se concluye con el arresto te dejará simplemente atónito al igual que a los demás personajes que presenciaron este hecho, es más, hasta el mismo asesino estará tan confundido como tú.

Una vez que empiezas esta lectura, de verdad no lo podrás dejar. ¡Necesitarás las respuestas!

Me fascinó Sherlock Holmes porque me parece un personaje en TODA la extensión de la palabra: es memorable, un poco agrio, egocéntrico, inteligente, misterioso, prudente, sofisticado, indescifrable, aficionado a la observación y la deducción y es sarcástico de una forma tan sutil e inteligente que resulta irresistible.
