Isabel Revuelta Poo, historia y conductora de “El Refugio de los Conspiradores”, relata la vida de diez mujeres que fueron parte de los acontecimientos más emblemáticos de México: desde la Conquista hasta el siglo XX. Con un vasto conocimiento sobre la historia nacional, Isabel ofrece una colorida antología que honra la memoria de las protagonistas que construyeron a México.

Hijas de la historia es una invitación para descubrir, bajo una nueva mirada, a Malintzin, Tecuichpo, sor Juana, la Guera Rodríguez, Dolores del Río y otras mujeres que cuestionaron las costumbres de su época, decidieron cambiar su destino y, así, el rumbo de nuestro país.

Mi reseña 🙂

 

Con este libro cerramos nuestro especial de septiembre de escritores mexicanos en el blog 😀 y quería que la última reseña fuera algo de divulgación histórica, algo que me hiciera aprender un poco más del país. Este libro me hizo ojitos desde que llegó y además está calientito, es novedad de la editorial  🙂

Primero, tenemos que hablar de la edición tan preciosa, todas las hojas están detalladas y decoradas, con colores cuidadosamente elegidos. Muy mexicano. Además, al comienzo de cada capítulo hay una ilustración de la mujer de la que vas a leer. No sé tú pero a mí me encanta leer libros visualmente atractivos. Sí, ya qué que lo importante es el contenido, pero no puedo negar que una edición como ésta le da un plus de placer a la lectura y embellecen más la biblioteca personal ♥

En este libro, la divulgadora histórica Isabel Revuelta nos comparte las poco visibilizadas historias de diez mujeres que, sabiéndolo en su momento o no, fueron una pieza clave en la historia del país y del rumbo que tomó a partir de su vida y sus decisiones.

Algunas de estas mujeres son casi desconocidas, otras malinterpretadas, y a pesar de todos los obstáculos, se las arreglaron para estar presentes en todos los ámbitos, aún cuando estaba prohibido, tejiendo y creando la historia de nuestro país.

Empieza hablando por Malintzin, cuyo verdadero nombre será un misterio para siempre, ese personaje clave tan importante del que increíblemente se desconoce bastante, y de cuyo nombre proviene la palabra “malinchista”, una expresión para señalar la tendencia de algunas personas de preferir o enaltecer lo extranjero y menospreciar lo nacional. Esta equivocada idea proviene de la popular e infundamentada creencia de que Malintzin traicionó a su patria, a su gente, pero solo hay que escudriñar un poco en la historia, para darse cuenta de la verdad que mis dedos sienten la comezón de escribir y compartir, peeero me resistiré a hacer spoilers para que lo descubras tú mismo 😉

Otra de las historias que me impresionó y de la que muero por saber más es de Antonieta Rivas Mercado.  Y El origen de la legendaria, muy sonada y poco conocida china poblana parece sacado de una historia sobrenatural y lo que hay detrás de ella ayuda a comprender un poco mejor la cultura de México (paradójicamente, una mujer que ni siquiera nació aquí. En fin, como dice Chavela Vargas, los mexicanos nacen donde su retorcida gana se les da).

Bueno, todas sus vidas fueron impresionantes, demostraron ser valientes, inteligentes, observadoras, talentosas, estas mujeres no se andaban con cosas, cuando terminaba de leer un capítulo no podía evitar pensar: Qué mujer tan poderosa… Quiero ser como ella ♥:)

Ya había escuchado y leído algo acerca de esas mujeres, pero la mayoría me sorprendió bastante, pues el libro está lleno de datos curiosos e información opuesta a la que nos enseñan en los libros académicos de historia. Y aunque quizá la mayoría podemos reconocer todos los nombres, la trascendencia que tuvo la vida de estas mujeres está injustamente escondida, me desconcertaba leer tan importante información que nos concierne de a todos y que ignoraba.

Uno de los más importantes mensajes que me dejó este libro es que no tenemos que conformarnos con las injusticias que se ciernen sobre nosotros, que tenemos que ser fieles a nosotros mismos aunque los demás no lo entiendan, la importancia de ser valientes y de no subestimar el impacto de nuestras acciones, nuestras decisiones, nuestras vidas.

Toca temas tan importantes de nuestra historia de manera clara, amena que lo considero lectura imprescindible. Todos deberíamos de tener el acceso a libros como éste. Estoy convencida de que lo disfrutarás tú también y habrá cosas del país, de la gente y de lugares que no volverás a ver igual 🙂
