Sinopsis del libro 

Matilda es una lectora empedernida con tan solo cinco años. Sensible e inteligente, todos la admiran menos sus mediocres padres, que la consideran una inútil. Además, tiene poderes extraños y maravillosos. Un día decide desquitarse y empieza a emplearlos contra la cruel señorita Trunchbull.

Mi reseña 🤓

 

Yo tenía años queriendo leer a Matilda y decidí que en este especial no podía dejar de incluirlo (y así también dejar de postergar un libro que se me antojaba tanto) ¿Cuál es el libro que has postergado por mucho tiempo? 🙂

Aunque creo que la mayoría hemos visto la película, leer el libro me despertaba mucha curiosidad. Una Matilda amante de los libros en papel asumía que era más interesante que una Matilda en una película. Y en efecto, lo fue.

El autor empieza con una reflexión inesperada, acerca de cómo evaluaría él a los niños si fuera docente, de cómo los padres enaltecen a sus hijos aunque sean promedio o incluso mediocres (cosa que es normal, afirma él). Me pareció muy divertido, me hizo reír y querer leérselo en voz alta a quien me encontraba a mi paso. Lo disfruté mucho.

En fin, volviendo a nuestra historia. Matilda es una niña que desde muy pequeña se acostumbra a hacer todo por sí misma y a pasar sola por tiempos prolongados. Sus papás son bastante negligentes e irresponsables (uso estos adjetivos para ser lo más amable que me es posible con estos distinguidos personajes), su papá hace mucho dinero estafando y vendiendo basura a precio de oro y su mamá es una obsesionada con el bingo y con su apariencia física. Cada vez que los papás de Matilda tienen una acción injusta con ella, Matilda no deja pasar la oportunidad de hacerles alguna travesura para enseñarles una lección. Es muy astuta y me divertí mucho leyendo las maldades y malos ratos que hacía pasar a sus desnaturalizados padres.

 Matilda aprende a leer por su cuenta a los 3 años, pero sus papás no leen, por lo que no hay libros en casa. Por lo que la pequeña empieza a visitar la biblioteca, que de inmediato se convierte en su lugar favorito en el que pasa todas las tardes. Para asombro de la bibliotecaria, la niña después de acabar con todos los libros infantiles empieza a arrasar con los clásicos universales y los goza profundamente. Amé una reflexión que hace sobre los libros de Hemingway (porque es uno de mis escritores favoritos) a quien se refiere dulcemente como “el señor Hemingway” ♥.

Independiente de que los libros son un escape para la vida de abandono e indiferencia que lleva con sus padres, ella realmente disfruta y ama los libros. Es una bella ♥ Me identifiqué mucho con ella, porque los libros tienen en su vida un lugar muy especial, pues al recorrer su mirada en ellos siente como si estuviera observando todo lo que pasa en sus líneas. Y quienes encontramos en la lectura un refugio, diversión, aprendizaje y mil cosas más es algo que entendemos perfectamente 📖

Pero Matilda no solamente destaca por su inteligencia lingüística. También lo hace en su inteligencia matemática y con una sensibilidad muy especial.

Entra a la escuela a una edad avanzada, porque claro, sus padres no se habían tomado la molestia de inscribirla. De inmediato todo el grupo queda impresionado con la inteligencia superior de Matilda, de la que además no hace alarde y tiene una actitud modesta. Nuestra protagonista encuentra en su maestra Honey, una compañía cálida y agradable que de alguna manera llena los huecos que ella tiene en su vida. Así que cuando se entera de las atrocidades que la monstruosa directora comete contra su adorada maestra, Matilda decide tomar cartas en el asunto y hacerse cargo con un talento increíble y mágico que está descubriendo y que será la clave para llevarla a vivir la vida a la que está destinada.

No esperaba encontrar el estilo narrativo de Roald Dahl tan… rudo. No me malinterpretes, eso me gustó, solo que no me lo esperaba. Te sumerge a esa atmósfera asfixiante y de injusticia que vive Matilda con unos padres tan horribles y una directora tan salvaje.

Seguro que ya viste la película, pero no importa. Créeme que el libro lo vas a disfrutar y no puedes dejar pasar la oportunidad de leerlo, sin importar la edad que tengas 😉 . Nunca dejes de leer libros que te hagan reír, tu salud mental y emocional te lo agradecerá, yo sé lo que te digo 🤓
