El día de hoy empezamos nuestro especial de San Valentín en el blog por tercer año consecutivo ♥
Estoy segura de que no solamente yo disfruto los libros románticos. Que te arrancan suspiros, te recuerdan a alguien, te sacan de tu bloqueo lector, te frustran porque sabes que nunca vivirás una historia así de intensa y apasionada (vaya, que optimista) y le suben dos rayitas a tus expectativas en el amor (oops!). Y hay tantos estilos diferentes de novela romántica que uno hasta puede elegir. Quién diga que no le gustan es porque no ha leído una realmente buena.
Quiero iniciar compartiendo la novela que quise leer para la adolescente que fui. “Eleanor & Park” fue un libro que despertaba mi interés desde que empecé la universidad y por una razón u otra nunca cayó a mis manos. Hasta ahora. Casi 10 años después. Cuando dudaba si leerla o no me dije que se lo debía a esa pequeña Angie universitaria. Te sugiero que tengas esto en mente cuando tengas dudas de sí leer un libro que deseaste inconmensurablemente años atrás J tu “yo” del pasado lo quitará de su lista de pendientes y lo agradecerá 😉
Eleanor y Park es la historia de amor de dos adolescentes de 16 años, excéntricos, cada uno a su manera. Eleanor acaba de llegar a la ciudad, viene de una familia profundamente disfuncional y se siente muy sola. Tiene un aspecto que sale de los estereotipos convencionales de su tiempo: tiene sobrepeso, un cabello pelirrojo, voluminoso y rebelde como ella. Además de un pasado turbio del que no quiere hablar con nadie.
Park tiende a pasar desapercibido, es de ascendencia asiática y le gusta escuchar música y leer comics, no llama especialmente la atención pero, al haber sido el primer novio de la chica más popular de instituto, no lo molestan. Como también puedes notar, Eleanor & Park no tienen muchos puntos en común, pero un buen día, coinciden en el asiento del bus escolar… y, nada. Se caen fatal.
Pero las circunstancias casi les obligan a empezar a conversar forzadamente, y Park empieza a sentir sienta curiosidad (¿o atracción?) de la misteriosa chica pelirroja de la que todo se burla y que, a su pesar, le avergüenza que la vean con ella.
Empiezan a conocerse, a compartir sus historias y la música de los cassettes que Park escucha todo el tiempo y que significan un mundo nuevo y un escape valioso para Eleanor. Terminan descubriendo que tienen una química intensa e inesperada que resulta conmovedor. Morirás de ternura igual que yo ♥
Aunque su dulce historia es poco probable que termine bien, porque los problemas que Eleanor viene arrastrando quizá puedan interferir entre ellos, amenazando con arrebatarle a ella la única felicidad que experimenta en su vida al estar cerca de Park.
Es una historia inocente, ñoña, linda, muy teen. El libro está repleto de frases memorables. De esas que quieres anotar en tu cuaderno y de las que mueres (en secreto, obvio), que te dediquen alguna vez.
